August 25, 2010

Summer Reading is over!  We had 62 out of 95 students graduate and they read a total of 1353 hours!  Due to the amount of kids, I will not be listing them here, but please look at our website on our programming page for a list of all of them!  Congratulations to all of them!  They did a great job!

What a way to end summer than with ice cream making this Friday August 27 at 6:30pm.  Come make some ice cream and eat it too!!

Join us Friday September 10 at 6:00pm as we watch the movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  Refreshments will be provided so come watch this great movie with us to relax after being back at school!

Legopalooza is coming to the library on Saturday September 11 at 10:30am!  We are not going to just build things, we are going to make creations, do contests, games and more!! Open to all Lego enthusiasts!

Join Sue Greenhagen, Village Historian, on Monday September 13 at 6:30pm as she shares with us these amazing Civil War letters from Galutia York.  Galutia York was the oldest son of a farm family from Hubbardsville, New York.

We will be closed this Saturday August 28, for some more pre-construction work to the library.  We will reopen Monday at noon.

We will be closed on Monday September 6 to observe Labor Day.  We will reopen Tuesday at 10am!

We are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 12pm to 8pm, Tuesday and Thursday 10am to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.

Summer Reading is over!  Join me next week as I announce the graduates, the hours read and if they met the reading goal of 1500 hours!  If they did, Sam Merritt, Library Aide, will be getting purple hair in September!

This Friday August 20 at 6:30pm, we will be having a tie dye night!  Bring an old handkerchief or t-shirt or anything you want to see retro hippie tie dye patterns on!  We’ll be dyeing clothes into new!  Please make sure you wash the item(s) first before you bring it!

Join us Saturday August 21 at 10:30am for our Water Relay Races!  Dress to get wet and be ready to be part of a team!  Lots of fun to be had!

On Wednesday August 25 at 6:30pm, we are having a Back to School Beach Party!  Come play games and do other “beachy” activities before school resumes!  Due to unforeseen circumstances, we cancelled the Henna Tattoo program scheduled for this day.

Summer Reading is almost over!  The program ends this Saturday August 14 so make sure you have read 10 hours (or more) and have turned in all your reading records, you are invited to our graduation ceremony on Wednesday August 18 at 6:30pm.  Ice cream sundaes, certificates and lots of prizes to be given out!  Make sure to get those minutes in by Saturday at 4pm.

Also, don’t forget that if collectively all the summer reading graduates read 1,500 hours then Sam, will color her hair purple!  So keep reading!!!!
