Take-n-Make May Craft(s)– Attention Kids! CLICK HERE to see what we are making this month! Open to ages 2-12; while supplies last!

Movie Night-Color Purple (1985 version) PG-13- Last month we read the book, tonight, Wednesday May 1 at 6:00pm, we will be watching the 1985 movie version!  Feel free to come even if you didn’t read the book!  It’s a classic movie and open to anyone over the age of 13! Please bring your own beverage and snacks. We will provide ONE cone of popcorn to each person in attendance.  Next week, May 8, we will be showing the 2023 version!

Facebook Live Chick Hatching and Hatched Cams- Friday May 3 and Saturday May 4– You guessed it! For the 6th year in a row, we are hatching eggs live! You will get to see the babies hatch and see them in our hatched cam as well-all done on Facebook Live! The eggs go into the incubator the weekend of April 12 and should hatch the weekend of May 3, 2024! We will go live as soon as we see the first pip in an egg!  We will remain Live the entire time (technology permitting) and we will restart the feed every 8 hours, 24 hours a day until the chicks are hatched!  Then view our Hatched Cam after to see the baby chicks as they get used to their new surroundings.  Hatched chicks will be able to be viewed in person during library hours for a few days after hatching before they go to their permanent home.

Kiddies Korner, Story Time–Please join us on  Tuesday May 7 at 10:00am! We will be hearing stories about “Going on a Picnic!”, doing some fingerplays, songs, a craft and more! Open to toddlers through preschool!

Kreative Krafters group– Meets every Tuesday from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the program room! This is open to anyone who wants to work on a craft but never finds the time! (Some sample crafts are: knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, needlepoint, the new popular Diamond Dotz, Quickpoint, quilting, scrapbooking, whittling, origami, weaving and beadwork.) If it’s a craft and you can bring it with you, then pack it up and come on over! (Dates are May 7, 14, 21, and 28.)

Movie Night- Color Purple (2023) -PG-13- Part 3 of our Color Purple series! First was our book discussion, then the 1985 movie version and tonight, Wednesday May 8 at 6:00pm, we will finish by showing the 2023 version!  It is rated PG-13, so only people over 13 can come!  Come even if you haven’t read the book or seen the other movie! Please bring your own beverage and snacks. We will provide ONE cone of popcorn to each person in attendance.

Stop the Bleed Program– Want to know how to stop severe bleeding and  get certified too?  For $10 a person, payable the night of the program, you can!!  Madison County EMS Educator, Morgan Pedersen, will be teaching the class on Friday May 10 at 6:00pm.  Please register starting April 1, at the library. Open to ages 16 to adult.

Board Game Night– Unplug from your phones, devices and video game console! Bring a favorite board game, a beverage and snack if you want, and join others who want to unplug, unwind, and relax with other people/families and have some fun!!! We will provide some classic games as well! All the fun begins on Monday May 13 at 6:00pm!

Open to toddlers through preschool! This ends our story time until October.  But, we do offer a summer reading one!  Look for more details for that on our July/August calendars!

History of our Local Churches– Join local resident, Ann Berlew, as she shares with us information about the history of the local churches in our area on Wednesday May 15 at 6:00pm.

Video Game Night– Bring your own devices, games etc. and join other like-minded video game people on Thursday May 16 from 5:30pm-7:00pm! Our public computers will not be used for this program; this takes place in our program room. You must bring your own handheld devices- phones, Kindles, laptops, Nintendo Switches etc. No one is to use other’s equipment without permission. Come chat with others, share some tricks and tips and have fun! Can bring snacks and a beverage if you choose. Open to anyone who has their own gaming handhelds.

Summer Reading Banner Letters Available- CALLING ALL KIDS! Help us decorate our Summer reading banner! Stop in and get your letter starting Monday May 20 (first come first serve)! Take it home and decorate it and return it by Friday June 14, 2024.

Library Board Meeting- The Library Board of Trustees meet on Tuesday May 21 at 5:30pm in the program room. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

LIBRARY CLOSED
The library will be closed to observe the Memorial Day holiday from Saturday May 25 through Monday May 27, 2024. We will reopen Tuesday May 28 at 10:00am. We also will resume our summer hours and will be CLOSED every Saturday through Labor Day.

Books are available on April 24, 2024. Book discussion will be Wednesday May 29 at 6:00pm in the program room. You do not have to participate in the discussion, you can just read the book and comment to a staff member too!

NERF FUN– Bring your own Nerf equipment (no darts needed- we provide them) and join us for open play around the library on Friday May 31 at 7:30pm until 9:30pm!  See if the library stacks provide you enough shelter from getting hit by a friend’s foam dart!  Open to ages 7 and up; so, adults are welcome too!  Everyone must bring a snack and a drink.  We only have 14 spaces so sign-up starting May 1!  (Must register by 5/29/24).
