Giving Tree Fundraiser– Shop for the library this holiday season from now through Saturday December 23, 2023! We have several items the library needs! It’s EASY! Grab a Christmas tag off our giving tree of something you would like to donate to the library. Buy it, donate it, whatever it says and bring the tag and the item in as soon as you can! We would like all donations turned in by January 13, 2024.
Take-n-Make December Craft(s)– Attention Kids! CLICK HERE to see what we are making this month! Open to ages 2-12; while supplies last!
Decorate a Holiday card for Crouse Community Center residents!– Stop in from Friday December 1 through Wednesday December 20 (during open hours) and make a Christmas card(s) for a resident(s) at Crouse Community Center! We will have blank cards, cards ready to color along with markers, crayons and colored pencils! If you know a resident personally, address the card, if not, no worries! Open to all ages! Help celebrate the holiday season with the residents! (We will take all cards made up to Crouse on Thursday December 21.) We would love to make sure every resident gets a least one card this holiday season!
Holiday Paint Night-Come join us on Friday December 1 at 6:00pm! Open to adults and kids 12 and older! No wine this time, but holiday food and beverages! Cost is $40 per person (payable the night of the program). Reservations are required! We MUST have 10 people to hold the class! We can have no more than 28 so space is limited! Sign up November 1 at the circulation desk! (The holiday painting of what we will create will be posted at the desk when signing up!)
Letters to Santa!- It’s Christmastime and Santa wants to hear from you! Stop in to the library December 4 through December 20 and write your letter to Santa with all your Christmas wishes on it! Make sure you address the back of the paper when you fold it, so we can deliver it to the North Pole for you! Slip it into our special letters to Santa mailbox at the circulation desk! Open to all ages; young and old!
Christmas I Spy- You loved our summer reading I Spy so we are doing a special one for Christmas! Stop in from December 4 through December 23 and complete it for a small prize. (Only one entry per person.) Open to all ages, young or old!
Kiddies Korner, Story Time–Join us on Tuesday December 5 at 10:00am! We will be hearing Jan Brett’s The Mitten, and some other stories, doing some fingerplays, songs, a craft and more! Open to toddlers through preschool!
Kreative Krafters group– Meets every Tuesday from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the program room! This is open to anyone who wants to work on a craft but never finds the time! (Some sample crafts are: knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, needlepoint, the new popular Diamond Dotz, Quickpoint, quilting, scrapbooking, whittling, origami, weaving and beadwork.) If it’s a craft and you can bring it with you, then pack it up and come on over! (Dates are December 5, 12 and 19. There will be no group on December 27 as we are closed.)
2nd Grade Reading Program– Open to all MECS 2nd graders wanting to complete some of their books for the 2nd grade Book Club! Every month we will be reading on some of the harder topics (poetry, historic people, nonfiction, NY and USA.) On Wednesday December 6 at 6:00pm we will be reading two books about Historic People and doing a fun activity as well! Then after attending, you can mark off those 2 books as read on your reading log! (We don’t meet again until March 2024 and we will be reading about Poetry!)
Annual Open House– It’s back and will be Friday December 8 from 5:00pm-7:00pm! Families and friends come join us! We will have yummy goodies, music, pictures with Santa, crafts and activities for kids and adults, a Holiday Selfie Station, Holiday games, Scavenger hunt for all (with a prize!), and a Christmas puzzle to work on! Also, check out our two Christmas trees- our Victorian one and our “All Creatures Great & Small” tree! Color a card for a Crouse Community Center resident or write your Letter to Santa! Enter our kids and adults free book raffles and make your last bids on our Silent Auction! The best part- enter to be our official tree lighter! Yes, at 7pm we will be lighting our tree outside in the library’s garden and one lucky person who comes to the event will get to be the tree lighter! Start your holiday festivities with us!
Silent Auction ends!– The Auction ends at 7pm on Friday December 8! Make sure you have all your bidding done by then! Winners will be contacted on Saturday December 9 for pickups that day through Saturday December 16 (during open hours). Any items left, will be passed on to the next highest bidder after December 16. Cash only!
NERF Fun– Bring your own Nerf equipment (darts too–please label them) and join us for open play around the library on Saturday December 9 at 1:30pm until 3:30pm! See if the library stacks provide you enough shelter from getting hit by a friend’s foam dart! Open to ages 7 and up; so, adults are welcome too! Everyone must bring a snack and a drink. We only have 14 spaces so sign-up starting December 1!

In Case You Missed It- A (Virtual) Stroll Through History-Main Street Morrisville– Did you miss our stroll down Main Street back in September?!? Did you want to learn more about the places we visited if you did come? Join us on Wednesday December 13 at 6:00pm as Village Historian, Sue Greenhagen, shares with us more information, pictures and stories about our stroll down Main Street!
Homeschool Retreat!– Join us every 2nd Thursday of the month from 1:00pm-3:00pm for games, crafts, fun, snacks and socializing! We meet on Thursday December 14! Feel free to bring a game or two and a snack if you want! (We will provide them too!) Come meet other homeschoolers and have some fun too!
Polar Express Night- We are showing the classic, The Polar Express, on Friday December 15 at 7:00pm. Bring the family in for our holiday tradition! We will provide the hot cocoa and cookies, & other magical effects; REMEMBER to wear your PJ’s!! Movies will be shown when the library is closed. Please be sure to use the program room door as the main entrance WILL BE LOCKED!
Board Game Night- Unplug from your phones, devices and video game console! Bring a favorite board game, a beverage and snack if you want, and join others who want to unplug, unwind, and relax with other people/families and have some fun!!! We will provide some classic games as well! All the fun begins on Monday December 18 at 6:00pm!
December Book Discussion– Dog Named Christmas by Greg Kincaid
Books are available on November 29, 2023. Instead of a book discussion this month, we will be showing the movie based on the book on Wednesday December 20 at 6:00pm in the program room. You do not have to come to the movie, you can just read the book and comment to a staff member too! (We will have popcorn though!!)
Kids Christmas Gift Making!– Calling all kids ages 7 to 14! Stop in on Friday December 22 at 6:00pm and create 3 gifts for your loved ones!
LIBRARY CLOSED– The library will be closed to celebrate the winter holidays from Monday December 25 through Monday January 1, 2024! We will reopen on Tuesday January 2 at 10:00am!
