Take-n-Make April Craft(s)– Attention Kids! CLICK HERE to see what we are making this month! Open to ages 2-12; while supplies last!

Make your Own Maracas Makerspace– Stop in anytime from April 1 through April 26 and make a set of maracas to take home! (If you are between the ages of 4-15, that is!) While supplies last. We will have our makerspace table set up by the circulation desk!

Kiddies Korner, Story Time–Join us on Tuesday April 2 at 10:00am! We will be hearing stories about “Fly Me to the Moon!”, doing some fingerplays, songs, a craft and more! Open to toddlers through preschool!

Kreative Krafters group– Meets every Tuesday from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the program room! This is open to anyone who wants to work on a craft but never finds the time! (Some sample crafts are: knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, needlepoint, the new popular Diamond Dotz, Quickpoint, quilting, scrapbooking, whittling, origami, weaving and beadwork.) If it’s a craft and you can bring it with you, then pack it up and come on over! (Dates are April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.)

Movie NightDisney’s the Wish– We will be showing Disney’s the Wish (rated PG) on Friday April 5 at 7pm!  Please bring your own beverage and snacks. We will provide ONE cone of popcorn to each person in attendance. Movies will be shown when the library is closed. Please be sure to use the program room door as the main entrance WILL BE LOCKED! IF YOU ARE EXHIBITING ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND OUR MOVIE NIGHTS! Staff reserve the right to ask you to leave if you are exhibiting symptoms at any time during the movie.

Solar Eclipse Program: Join us on Monday April 8 at 2:00pm and watch the solar eclipse with us! We have special eclipse glasses to give out to everyone in attendance. Come do some fun activities too! Perfect for the whole family!  (Please bring a chair if you don’t want to stand outside during the eclipse!)

2nd Grade Reading Program– Open to all MECS 2nd graders wanting to complete some of their books for the 2nd grade Book Club!  On Wednesday April 10 at 6:00pm we will be reading two books about fairy tales and doing a fun activity as well! Then after attending, you can mark off those 2 books as read on your reading log!

CPR/AED Certification Program- Need your CPR/AED certification or just want to have it?  For $20 a person, payable the night of the program, you can get your certification!  Madison County EMS Educator, Morgan Pedersen, will be teaching the class on Friday April 12 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Please register starting March 4, at the library. Open to ages 16 to adult. PLEASE NOTE:  If you are looking for the CPR/AED/First Aid certification, we are holding a class for that on June 7 for $35.  Registration for that will begin in May.

Facebook Live Chick Hatching and Hatched Cams- April/May 2024
You guessed it! For the 6th year in a row, we are hatching eggs live! You will get to see the babies hatch and see them in our hatched cam as well-all done on Facebook Live! The eggs go into the incubator the weekend of April 12 and should hatch the weekend of May 3, 2024! We will have events on Facebook Live of putting the eggs into the incubator, candling events while they grow and then the biggest and best event, watching them hatch early June! Mark your calendars today!
FACEBOOK LIVE EVENTS!
Friday April 12 at 8:30pm
– Watch as we place the eggs in the incubator and learn a bit about the process.
Friday April 19 at 7:30pm– Watch as we candle the eggs for the first time! See how they are growing inside the egg!
Friday April 26 at 7:30pm– Watch as we candle the eggs for the last time! See how much they have changed since the last candle a week ago! Last chance to see them before the hatch!
Friday May 3 and Saturday May 4– We will go live as soon as we see the first pip in an egg!  We will remain Live the entire time (technology permitting) and we will restart the feed every 8 hours, 24 hours a day until the chicks are hatched!  Then view our Hatched Cam after to see the baby chicks as they get used to their new surroundings.  Hatched chicks will be able to be viewed in person during library hours for a few days after hatching before they go to their permanent home.

NERF FUN!– Bring your own Nerf equipment (no more darts needed- we provide them) and join us for open play around the library on Saturday April 13 at 1:30pm until 3:30pm!  See if the library stacks provide you enough shelter from getting hit by a friend’s foam dart!  Open to ages 7 and up; so, adults are welcome too!  Everyone must bring a snack and a drink.  We only have 14 spaces so sign-up starting April 1! MUST Register by 4/11/24.

Video Game Night– Bring your own devices, games etc. and join other like-minded video game people on Thursday April 18 from 5:30pm-7:00pm! Our public computers will not be used for this program; this takes place in our program room. You must bring your own handheld devices- phones, Kindles, laptops, Nintendo Switches etc. No one is to use other’s equipment without permission. Come chat with others, share some tricks and tips and have fun! Can bring snacks and a beverage if you choose. Open to anyone who has their own gaming handhelds.

Virtual Stroll Through Morrisville (part 2) Historic Talk- Let’s finish our virtual stroll down Main Street with Village Historian, Sue Greenhagen, as we start at the Square Deal down and head down to CAP (on the corner.)  Lots of visual materials and stories, so its a presentation you sure do not want to miss!!  Please join us on Friday April 19 at 6:00pm!

Spring Book Sale- Join us on Saturday April 20 from 10:00am to 2:00pm for our Spring Book Sale! Sale will be held in our new book room (and outside the room as well!) Everything is organized and easy to find! Stock up for the warmer weather ahead!

Board Game Night– Unplug from your phones, devices and video game console! Bring a favorite board game, a beverage and snack if you want, and join others who want to unplug, unwind, and relax with other people/families and have some fun!!! We will provide some classic games as well! All the fun begins on Monday April 22 at 6:00pm!

All the Buzz about Pollinators– Join Madison County 4-H to learn all the ‘buzz’ about pollinators on Wednesday April 24 at 2:00pm! Learn about different kinds of pollinators, why they are important and play a pollinator game. Youth will also make a wildflower seed bomb that can be taken home to be planted.  Registration is required! Must register by 4/22/24.

Utica ZoomobileJoin the Utica Zoomobile with some animals we can learn about and maybe even touch on Thursday April 25 at 2:30pm.

April Book Discussion–Color Purple by Alice Walker
Books are available on March 27 2024. Book discussion will be Wednesday April 24 at 6pm in the program room. You do not have to participate in the discussion, you can just read the book and comment to a staff member too! ALSO, view the 1985 movie version of the book on Wednesday May 1 at 6pm. We will be showing the 2024 version on Wednesday May 8 at 6pm. Then, we will decide if we all want to get back together and chat about what we liked about all three, the similarities and differences and more!
