September 2023 Events

Take n- Make September Crafts- Attention Kids! CLICK HERE to see what we are making this month!  Open to ages 2-12; while supplies last!

Library Closed – The Library will be closed to observe Labor Day on Monday September 4, 2023. We will reopen Tuesday September 5 at 10am.

Oreo Taste Test Makerspace- Help us decide which Oreo Morrisville likes best! Stop the makerspace by the circulation desk starting Tuesday September 5 and taste five different kinds of Oreos!  Vote for your favorite and least favorite! At the end of the month we will reveal the most liked flavor (and least favorite)!  OPEN TO ALL AGES; young or old! While supplies last.

Kreative Krafters group– Meets every Tuesday from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the program roomThis is open to anyone who wants to work on a craft but never finds the time! (Some sample crafts are: knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, needlepoint, the new popular Diamond Dotz, Quickpoint, quilting, scrapbooking, whittling, origami, weaving and beadwork.) If it’s a craft and you can bring it with you, then pack it up and come on over! (Dates are September 5, 12, 19 and 26.)

Morning Walking Group- We meet every Thursday AM (if it’s rainy, stay home) at 10:00am to get some steps in for health! Open to any that are available and able to walk! That means our older patrons, our homeschool patrons, moms/dads while the kiddos are at school, kids in strollers (bring your parents), etc. Meet us at the library at 10:00am and we will walk for an hour! Meet new friends, bring a friend, come and socialize while we get healthy! (Be sure to wear proper walking shoes and bring a bottle of water too!) This program will run every Thursday from May 11 through October 19, 2023! (You do not need to attend every week.) September dates are September 7, 14, 21, 28.

That means our older patrons, our homeschool patrons, moms/dads with or without your kids, kids in strollers (bring your parents), etc. (Please note: If your bring a young child who isn’t in a stroller, you need to assure us that he/she will be well attended to and able to walk the entire time.) Movie Night– Funny Little Cars Parts 1 & 2– Join us on Friday September 8 at 6:00pm!  We are showing Funny Little Cars 1 and Funny Little Cars 2!   Please bring your own beverage and snacks. We will provide ONE cone of popcorn to each person in attendance. PLEASE NOTE: TOTAL RUNNING TIME is 2 hours and 15 minutes. We are showing BOTH movies this evening so we are starting at 6:00PM!

Local History Walk– Join Historian, Sue Greenhagen, at the library on Wednesday September 13 at 6:30pm. Library Manager, Michelle Rounds, will share some historical information about the library, do a short walk through of the downstairs of the library and then Sue will whisk you away down the streets of Morrisville to tour a few of our historic houses! Dress for walking and nighttime weather! Rain date is Friday September 15 at 6:30pm. If there is enough interest, we would love to do this annually.

Homeschool Retreat!– Join us every 2nd Thursday of the month from 1:00pm-3:00pm for games, crafts, fun, snacks and socializing! We meet on Thursday September 14! Feel free to bring a game or two and a snack if you want! (We will provide them too!) Come meet other homeschoolers and have some fun too!

Fall Book Sale- Stop in and grab some good books for the fall weather ahead on Saturday September 16 from 10:00am-4:00pm!  Stock up for winter too!  Can’t beat the prices!  We will have adult and kids books, DVD’s, books on tape or CD, music CD’s and more!

Board Game Night- Unplug from your phones, devices and video game console! Bring a favorite board game, a beverage and snack if you want, and join others who want to unplug, unwind, and relax with other people/families and have some fun!!! We will provide some classic games as well! All the fun begins on Monday September 18 at 6:00pm!

Library Board of Trustees meeting– The Library Board of Trustees meet on Tuesday September 19 at 5:30pm. The public is welcome to attend. 

September Book Discussion- Homecoming by Kate Morton– Copies can be picked up starting September 1, 2023. Read the book because you want to OR come and meet in person on Wednesday September 20 at 6:00pm and talk about it with your fellow Morrisvillians!

Airplane Tales #2, Historic Talk- Jim Coulthart, a local amateur military aviation historian, will present his collection of WW2 anecdotes, incidents, accidents with ties to Central New York. Among the tales to be presented are the story of George Staley, from DeRuyter/Norwich, the brothers Mero, both pilots from Canastota, Bill Tanner a local aerial Ace with several air victories to his count and 15 enemy trains destroyed to his credit. Please join us on Friday September 22 at 6:00pm.

Rock-n-Read Fundraiser- CANCELLED due to lack of participants. Stay tuned, we will try again!

LIBRARY CLOSING EARLY!- The library will be closing at 3:30pm on Monday September 25, 2023 for a staff training. We will reopen on Tuesday September 26 at 10am.

Pollinators! Program- Join CCE Madison County 4-H on Wednesday September 27 at 6:00pm to learn all about pollinators! Pollinators are responsible for pollinating flowers and crops; without them we would have no food! Join us for the book, Bea’s Bees, and a pollinator game that will have you ‘buzzing.’ Open to all!

Solar Science! Sunspotters and Eclipse Safety– Join Ha-Eun Choi, ASP Eclipse Ambassador from Colgate University on Friday September 29 at 4pm as we do some sun science, learn about the upcoming eclipses and more! Fun for all ages!
