August 2022 Events

Take-n-Make– Stop in Monday August 1-Friday August 5 and get your activity to do at home! This week will be Edible Campfires! Craft kits are for kids ages 2-12 ONLY!

Kreative Krafters group– Meets every Tuesday from 5pm-7pm in the program room! This is open to anyone who wants to work on a craft but never finds the time! (Some sample crafts are: knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, needlepoint, the new popular Diamond Dotz, Quickpoint, quilting, scrapbooking, whittling, origami, weaving and beadwork.) If it’s a craft and you can bring it with you, then pack it up and come on over! (Dates are August 2,9,16,23, and 30.)

Story Time- Join Library Manager, Michelle Rounds, as she reads books, does songs and we make a craft about Nocturnal Animals on Tuesday August 2 at 10:00am on the library’s back lawn! Please bring something to sit on! If it’s inclement weather, this event will be recorded on Facebook Live. It will be in our videos on Facebook until the end of summer reading. (If it’s virtual, stop in any time after the reading for the remainder of the week and get your craft!)

Stuffed Animal Sleepover- Have you ever wondered what happens in the library at night? Now you have a chance to find out! Children ages 3+ are invited to drop off a stuffed animal for a special sleepover. Make sure to send a friend who doesn’t need to sleep with you each night! No advanced registration required, just drop off anytime starting Wednesday August 3 through Friday August 5 between 12:00pm-7:00pm. Each child will need to fill out a “My Name Is” form and create a nametag for your stuffed friend upon drop off. Then they are all ready for a fun time as they spend the night with us Friday night! Watch our Facebook page and see all the fun your friend is having at our sleepover! Monday August 8 from 12:00pm-7:00pm stop in and get your friend and learn about their adventures! Each friend will have some goodies to take home!

Duct Tape Pouches Makerspace-Stop in Monday August 8-Friday August 12 and make a duct tape pouch! We will have everything available to make a colorful pouch for holding whatever you would like! (Open to ages 2-17 years of age.) While supplies last. (The makerspace will be set up by the circulation desk.)

Utica Zoomobile- Join the Utica Zoomobile to learn about some wonderful animals (and get to touch a few) on Friday August 12 at 6:30pm OUTSIDE on the back lawn! Fun for the entire family! Bring your own chairs, blankets, etc. to sit on as the library will not be providing anything. Remember it will be outside so plan for the weather- temperature, bugs, sprinkles of rain, etc.! THE LIBRARY CLOSES AT 7PM SO BE SURE TO COME EARLY AND DO LIBRARY BUSINESS BEFOREHAND!

Take-n-Make-Stop in Monday August 15-Friday August 19 and get your activity to do at home! This week will be Hodgepodge Week! Grab a craft you missed from a prior week or grab a favorite and do it again! While supplies last. Craft kits are for kids ages 2-12 ONLY!

Family Camp Out- Bring the family out for a camp out on Wednesday August 17 at 6:00pm! REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Families must register for this event by stopping into the library and signing up. Only a limited number of families will be allowed. This event will be OUTSIDE! Please bring a blanket for your family to sit one and one or more flashlights! We will do various camping related/nature activities! Fun evening with the family!

Summer Reading Ends!– Be sure to get all your reading records (kids) and book reviews (adults) in by 7pm Friday August 19! Make sure you have turned in all your contest entries etc. too! REMEMBER only kids who have read AT LEAST 12 hours will graduate! SO READ, READ, READ!

Summer Reading Graduation- Join us on Friday August 26 at 6:30pm OUTSIDE on the back lawn for our ceremony! Lots of prizes and goodies! Ice cream sundaes are back too! Bring your own chairs, blankets, etc. to sit on as the library will not be providing anything. Remember it will be outside so plan for the weather- temperature, bugs, sprinkles of rain, etc.! THE LIBRARY CLOSES AT 7PM SO BE SURE TO COME EARLY AND DO LIBRARY BUSINESS BEFOREHAND! Thank you for spending the summer with us!
