July Events 2021

REMEMBER: ALL PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AT THE LIBRARY AND TO DO AT HOME ALL COUNT TOWARDS TICKETS FOR PRIZES AT THE END OF SUMMER READING. WANDERER’S REST DONATION DRIVE– We will be collecting for Wanderer’s Rest in Canastota NY during our summer reading program! Donations can be dropped off to the library during open hours and left by the circulation desk. Need to know what to donate? CLICK HERE!

10 Years in our New Space Celebration!- Thank you to all of our patrons!  We have been open 10 years in our new space!  To celebrate, stop in during the month of July and get your commemorative items!  Come in and grab a magnetic bookmark that has a picture of the library and the phrase, “Morrisville Public Library, Celebrating 10 years in our new space!, 2011-2021” and people ages 16 and up can enter ONCE for a $50 Rays Brother’s BBQ gift card. (Raffle runs from July 1-July 31 with the winner announced at the beginning of August.)  Also stop in Monday July 19 and get your vanilla cupcake with an edible cake topper that has the library picture and the phrase, “celebrating 10 years in our new space.” Then continue to use your library for another 10 years and beyond!

LIBRARY CLOSED- We will be closed on Monday July 5 to observe Independence Day. We will reopen Tuesday July 6, at noon.

Take-n-Make- Stop in Tuesday July 6-Friday July 9 and get your activity to do at home! This week will be Water Bears. What are they? Also known as tardigrades, they are 8-legged micro-animals. They are very fascinating animals but we will be making a cuter version that looks nothing like them with gummy bears! Stop in and get your kit this week, while supplies last! (Research what a water bear/tardigrade is as they are interesting!) Craft kits are for kids ages 4-15 ONLY!

Virtual Story Time- Join Library Manager, Michelle Rounds, as she reads books about Insects/Spiders on Tuesday July 6 at 11:00am on Facebook Live! Then stop into the library and get the craft activity to take home and do! (Craft kits are only available until Friday July 9, while supplies last.) Classics with Chelle- Incredible Journey by Sheila Burnford
Join us Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm starting July 7, 2021, as our Library Manager, Michelle Rounds, reads on Facebook Live a classic book! Fun for kids and adults! (This will run July 7 through August 18). It will be live on Facebook until August 31, 2021 when it will be removed. Be sure to check out the movie, Homeward Bound, after as it was based on this book! Listen for a code word during the reading! Then let us know this word to get your ticket entered into the prize drawings at the end of summer reading!

Puppies and Kittens Trivia Night- Join us anytime from 6:30pm-8:00pm for our Virtual Puppy and Kitten Trivia on Thursday July 8! See how many you can get right about kittens and puppies and be at the top of the leaderboard! Utica Zoomobile- The Utica Zoomobile will be here at 4pm on Friday July 9, 2021 OUTSIDE. Registration WILL NO LONGER BE NEEDED as per recent changes to state mandates. Face coverings and social distancing are not mandated for outside programs. (Masks and/or social distancing are optional by you, based on your comfort level.) Bring your own chairs, blankets, etc. to sit on as the library will not be providing anything. Remember it will be outside so plan for the weather- temperature, bugs, sprinkles of rain, etc.!

Book Sale- Join us on Saturday July 10 from 9-3pm for our Summer Book Sale. ONLY 5 people will be allowed in at one time. So you may be asked to wait outside if the room is “full”. Bring your own bags/boxes as we cannot provide any. CASH only for purchases. EVERYONE who attends MUST wear a face covering the entire time and use our hand sanitizer upon entrance!

Take-n-Make- Stop in Monday July 12-Friday July 16 and get your activity to do at home! This week will be Butterfly Puddlers. What are they? A place for butterflies to land and drink water! Stop in and get your kit this week, while supplies last! Craft kits are for kids ages 4-15 ONLY!

Take-n-Make- Stop in Monday July 26-Friday July 30 and get your activity to do at home! This week will be Rainbow Wish Bears. Stop in and get your kit this week, while supplies last. We have a very limited number of these so stop in early in the week to guarantee yours. (We will NOT reserve bears. First come, first serve.) Craft kits are for kids ages 4-15 ONLY!

Stuffed Animal Sleepover- Have you ever wondered what happens in the library at night? Now you have a chance to find out! Children ages 3+ are invited to drop off a stuffed animal for a special sleepover. Make sure to send a friend who doesn’t need to sleep with you each night! No advanced registration required, just drop off anytime starting Wednesday July 28 or Thursday July 29 between 12:00pm-7:00pm. Each child will need to fill out a “My Name Is” form and create a nametag for your stuffed friend upon drop off. (Want to prepare these two things at home ahead of time? They can be picked up starting Monday July 26 during open hours.) Then they are all ready for a fun time as they spend the night with us Thursday night! Watch our Facebook page and see all the fun your friend is having at our sleepover! Friday July 30 from 12:00pm-7:00pm stop in and get your friend and learn about their adventures! Each friend will have a letter, pictures and some goodies to take home!

Have a Heart for Pets Book Creation- Want to make a folded heart book creation? Join Robin Branch-Staelens on Friday July 30 at 6:30pm on Facebook Live as she shows you how to do it from home! Be sure to pick up all the materials needed from us starting Friday July 23 during open hours so you will be ready on July 30! Tune in as she shows you how to do it! Ask questions in the comments and she will answer them! REGISTRATION is REQUIRED and is limited to 20 people. This program is for ages 12-adult. (See below for the end result!)
