Take-n-Make May Craft(s)– Attention Kids! CLICK HERE to see what we are making this month! Open to ages 2-12; while supplies last!

Kiddies Korner, Story Time–Please join us on  Tuesday May 2 at 10:00am! We will be hearing stories about “Going on a Picnic!”, doing some fingerplays, songs, a craft and more! Open to toddlers through preschool!–CANCELLED!!!

Kreative Krafters group– Meets every Tuesday from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the program room! This is open to anyone who wants to work on a craft but never finds the time! (Some sample crafts are: knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, needlepoint, the new popular Diamond Dotz, Quickpoint, quilting, scrapbooking, whittling, origami, weaving and beadwork.) If it’s a craft and you can bring it with you, then pack it up and come on over! (Dates are May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.)

2nd Grade Reading Program– Open to all MECS 2nd graders wanting to complete some of their books for the 2nd grade Book Club! Every month we will be reading on some of the harder topics (poetry, historic people, nonfiction, NY and USA.) On Wednesday May 10 at 6:00pm we will be reading two books about Historic People and doing a fun activity as well! Then after attending, you can mark off those 2 books as read on your reading log!

Morning Walking Group- We are starting a group that will meet every Thursday AM (if it’s rainy, stay home) at 10:00am to get some steps in for health! Open to any that are available and able to walk! That means our older patrons, our homeschool patrons, moms/dads while the kiddos are at school, kids in strollers (bring your parents), etc. Meet us at the library at 10:00am and we will walk for an hour! Meet new friends, bring a friend, come and socialize while we get healthy! (Be sure to wear proper walking shoes and bring a bottle of water too!) This program will run every Thursday from May 11 through October 19, 2023! (You do not need to attend every week.) May dates are May 11, 18, 25.

Homeschool Retreat!– Join us every 2nd Thursday of the month from 1:00pm-3:00pm for games, fun, snacks and socializing! We meet on Thursday May 11! Feel free to bring a game or two and a snack if you want! (We will provide them too!) Come meet other homeschoolers and have some fun too!

Facebook Live Chick Hatching and Hatched Cams- May/June 2023
You guessed it! For the 5th year in a row, we are hatching eggs live! You will get to see the babies hatch and see them in our hatched cam as well-all done on Facebook Live! The eggs go into the incubator the weekend of May 12 and should hatch the weekend of June 2, 2023! We will have events on Facebook Live of putting the eggs into the incubator, candling events while they grow and then the biggest and best event, watching them hatch early June! Mark your calendars today!
FACEBOOK LIVE EVENTS!
Friday May 12 at 7:30pm
– Watch as we place the eggs in the incubator and learn a bit about the process.
Friday May 19 at 7:30pm– Watch as we candle the eggs for the first time! See how they are growing inside the egg!
Friday May 26 at 7:30pm– Watch as we candle the eggs for the last time! See how much they have changed since the last candle a week ago! Last chance to see them before the hatch!
Friday June 2 and Saturday June 3– We will go live as soon as we see the first pip in an egg!  We will remain Live the entire time (technology permitting) and we will restart the feed every 8 hours, 24 hours a day until the chicks are hatched!  Then view our Hatched Cam after to see the baby chicks as they get used to their new surroundings.  Hatched chicks will be able to be viewed in person during library hours for a few days after hatching before they go to their permanent home.

RC Car Fun Day- CANCELLED!!! (Due to lack of registrations). Want a different place to drive your remote control cars? Want to race against others? Bring your RC car(s) (and batteries or charger) and join us Saturday May 13 from 1:00pm-3:00pm! Open to ages 6 and up (so adults can bring theirs too!) Participants can only bring 3 vehicles and it is recommended you label your chargers etc. Parents must stay the entire time and its suggested you bring a snack and beverage as breaks will be provided. Need not stay the entire time, but no entry after 1:10pm. Please do not come if you are exhibiting cold-like symptoms. Staff reserve the right to ask child/parent to leave. MUST reserve your spot starting Monday April 24, 2023 by stopping into the library. No phone calls.

Library Board Meeting- The Library Board of Trustees meet on Tuesday May 16 at 5:30pm in the program room. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Silos in Rural Landscapes on Route 8, Historic Talk– Join Emily Zaengle on Friday May 19 at 6:00pm as she presents 160 silos along Route 8 from Utica to South Brookfield.  She discusses the cultural and aesthetic history of these objects and how they’ve become an indicator of a changing agricultural landscape.

Summer Reading Banner Letters Available- CALLING ALL KIDS! Help us decorate our Summer reading banner! Stop in and get your letter starting Monday May 22 (first come first serve)! Take it home and decorate it and return it by June 16, 2023.

May Book Discussion–The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
Copies can be picked up starting April 26, 2023.  Read the book because you want to OR come and meet in person on Wednesday May 24 at 6:00pm and talk about it with your fellow Morrisvillians!

LIBRARY CLOSED
The library will be closed to observe the Memorial Day holiday from Saturday May 27 through Monday May 29, 2023. We will reopen Tuesday May 30 at 10:00am. We also will resume our summer hours and will be CLOSED every Saturday through Labor Day.
