February 2020 Events

Thursday January 2- Saturday February 29– Canned Food Drive
We will be having our annual Canned Food Drive to benefit the Morrisville Food Pantry. Please help us make it better than last year! Help us to benefit to our food pantry! We can only take any non-perishable, UNEXPIRED canned food item!! We will ALSO collect hygiene products like soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes etc for the Pantry as well!

Tuesday February 4– Kiddies Korner- 10:00am
Bring the little ones in to read about “Going to the Zoo”! Stories, rhymes, finger plays, a craft and more!

Friday February 7– Valentine Cards & Treats- 6:30pm
Come make 2 valentines for a special someone and 2 sweet treat holders too! Cost is $5 per set of 4 activities (payable the night of the program). Jackie Groves of Librarystampers Creations will demonstrate how to use stamps and other tools to create these unique items! This is open to ages 12 and up (but if someone younger wants to participate; a parent/guardian must come too!) We must have 5 people signed up to have this event so please sign up starting January 2, 2020 at the circulation desk!

Monday February 10- Learn to Crochet!- 6:30pm
Always wanted to learn how to make those cute afghans? Need a refresher? Come join Tanya DeCock as she teaches us how to crochet. All participants MUST bring a skein of yarn and a G or H crochet hook. We will start by learning a scarf and go from there! If you attended last month, bring what you did and we shall continue on!

Monday February 17– LIBRARY CLOSED in observance of President’s Day.

Bring the little ones in to read about “Fly Me To The Moon”! Hear stories; make a craft and lots more!

Wednesday February 19– Movie Matinee- 2:00pm
It’s winter break and you are looking for something to do? Come to the library and watch a new to DVD movie! We will be showing —CHECK BACK SOON! Popcorn is free; bring your own beverage! Parents- please make arrangements with the Library Manager (mrounds@midyork.org) if you want to leave your children for the movie and come back after!

Wednesday February 19– Book Talk-Courting Mr. Lincoln– 6:30pm
Calling all adults and teens! The book we plan to read is Louis Bayard’s book, Courting Mr. Lincoln! Stop in and get your copy January 15, 2020 and then come join in the discussion with us!

Thursday February 20- Madison County Sheriff’s Robot Demonstration & Operation Safe Child ID program- 2:00pm
Just like it says! Sergeant Chapman will be here to show us their crime fighting robot! Open to all ages; young or old! AND, when was the last time you had an ID card made of your child through the Sheriff’s Operation Safe Child Program?  Or have you never done it? After the robot, stay and get your child’s ID card or update it today!

Friday February 21- 80’s Murder Mystery Party-6:30pm
OPEN TO AGES 12 and UP ONLY!!! Stop in and sign up anytime from February 1-18! YOU MUST ATTEND so please do not sign up and then not show. After you sign up, you will be contacted by the Library Manager with your “character” for the mystery party. Feel free to “dress” your part and look over the information she gives you! Be prepared for a fun evening! Like, oh my gosh, we will be havin’ an 80’s party!

Saturday February 22- NERF Battle Night- 8:30-11:00pm
Bring your own Nerf equipment (darts too–please label them) and join us for open play around the library! See if the library stacks provide you enough shelter from getting hit by a friend’s foam dart! Open to ages 7 and up; so adults are welcome too! Everyone must bring a snack and a drink. We only have 14 spaces so sign up starting February 1!
