RC Car Fun Day- Want a different place to drive your remote control cars? Want to race against others? Bring your RC car(s) (and batteries or charger) and join us Saturday April 1 from 1:00pm-3:00pm! Open to ages 6 and up (so adults can bring theirs too!) Participants can only bring 3 vehicles and it is recommended you label your chargers etc. Parents must stay the entire time and its suggested you bring a snack and beverage as breaks will be provided. Need not stay the entire time, but no entry after 1:10pm. Please do not come if you are exhibiting cold-like symptoms. Staff reserve the right to ask child/parent to leave. MUST reserve your spot starting Monday March 20, 2023 by stopping into the library. No phone calls.
Find an Egg!- All month long starting April 3, we have hidden eggs in the library! Stop in, once per day and find an egg. Bring it to the circulation desk, read the joke inside to the staff member and receive a piece of candy! OPEN TO ALL AGES!!!
Planting Makerspace– Starting Monday April 3 through Thursday April 27 come and plant marigolds and peas to take home! We will provide everything! Then take them home and water and give them sunshine and when it’s warmer out, replant outside at your home! Open to kids ages 4-17!
Kiddies Korner, Story Time–Join us on Tuesday April 4 at 10:00am! We will be hearing stories about “Easter!”, doing some fingerplays, songs, a craft and more! Open to toddlers through preschool!
Kreative Krafters group– Meets every Tuesday from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the program room! This is open to anyone who wants to work on a craft but never finds the time! (Some sample crafts are: knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, needlepoint, the new popular Diamond Dotz, Quickpoint, quilting, scrapbooking, whittling, origami, weaving and beadwork.) If it’s a craft and you can bring it with you, then pack it up and come on over! (Dates are April 4, 11, 18 and 25.)
2nd Grade Reading Program– Open to all MECS 2nd graders wanting to complete some of their books for the 2nd grade Book Club! Every month we will be reading on some of the harder topics (poetry, historic people, nonfiction, NY and USA.) On Wednesday April 5 at 6:00pm we will be reading two nonfiction books and doing a fun activity as well! Then after attending, you can mark off those 2 books as read on your reading log! (May’s topic is historic people!)
Movie Night–Man Called Otto (PG-13)– Join us on Friday April 7 at 7:00pm! Please bring your own beverage and snacks. We will provide ONE cone of popcorn to each person in attendance. Movies will be shown when the library is closed. Please be sure to use the program room door as the main entrance WILL BE LOCKED! IF YOU ARE EXHIBITING ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND OUR MOVIE NIGHTS! Staff reserve the right to ask you to leave if you are exhibiting symptoms at any time during the movie. Only people 13 and older will be allowed to view the movie unless you bring your parent/guardian.
LIBRARY CLOSED– The library will be closed on Saturday April 8 for the Easter holiday weekend. We will reopen Monday April 10 at 12pm.
Homeschool Retreat!– Join us every 2nd Thursday of the month from 1:00pm-3:00pm for games, fun, snacks and socializing! We meet on Thursday April 13! Feel free to bring a game or two and a snack if you want! (We will provide them too!) Come meet other homeschoolers and have some fun too!
John Taibi Railroad Historic Talk– The Racetrack is the title, and it is an account of the competitive operation between the Ontario & Western and the Lackawanna railroads between Utica and Norwich. The Racetrack, itself, extended from Sherburne 4-Corners through North Norwich. Join us for this exciting talk on Friday April 14 at 6:00pm.
Spring Book Sale- Join us on Saturday April 15 from 10:00am to 4:00pm for our Spring Book Sale! Sale will be held in our new book room (and outside the room as well!) Everything is organized and easy to find! Stock up for the warmer weather ahead!

Wine and Paint Night– Come join us on Friday April 21 at 6:00pm! Open to adults and kids 12 and older! If you don’t drink wine we will have grape juice and of course, goodies for everyone too! Cost is $40 per person (payable the night of the program). Reservations are required! We MUST have 10 people to hold the class! We can have no more than 28 so space is limited! Sign up April 1 at the circulation desk! (The painting of what we will create will be posted at the desk when signing up!)
